I would like to properly introduce our new music project SIGHT CURVE. (formerly called Blue Dirt Girl+Klame)

Our album, CANCER DANCE,  was released in June 2026 on Bandcamp and streaming platforms.

We are a genre defying indie project featuring Blue Dirt Girl’s strong and nuanced vocalist, Kathryn Sutherland, and well-versed bassist, Albert Klassen, on stand up and electric, with eclectic beatmaker Josh Klassen.

You can watch/listen to our music on our Youtube Channel.

The trio formed in the fall of 2023.

Josh Klassen lives in Courtenay BC,  is a multidisciplinary artist with both art and music projects on Vancouver Island and is Albert’s nephew. Kathryn commissioned Josh to create the wonderful Painting Reaction Teaser Youtube videos for our 2021 EP ‘Nothing is as it was.’

Sight Curve started after a long awaited collab with Josh and Kathryn fired up, in August 2023, with Josh sending beat/loops ideas and Kathryn sending back her vocal/lyric ideas. Very quickly the pair invited Albert to join the project with his stand up and electric bass ideas.

You can hear a snippets of our original song ‘CAVE CHOIR’ here on our IG and FB pages.

All Sight Curves music will be available for purchase on Bandcamp very soon. The trio is hard at work in the studio now.

A new compadre of Kathryn’s, on Saturna Island, Sarah-Dawn Robichaud introduced Kathryn to Trish Belsham, Creative Director, of Pemberton based Gruff Goat Dance in the fall of 2023.

After almost 9 months of work a collaborative show ECHOES OF NARCISSUS was created with Blue Dirt Girl+Klame (Sight Curve’s) original score to GGD dance.

The highlight was our September 14th Premiere at Britannia Mine Museum stunning performance stage. Unfortunately there was a tech glitch and we have no live video of our performance.

Here are some reviews, of Blue Dirt Girl+Klame’s, performance at the BMM show:

Blue Dirt Girl x Klame’s music grooves and turns to shape a complex narrative that you float away upon. Their Echoes of Narcissus score was like a psychedelic dream with a a knockout soundtrack.”

BMM attendee Sophie Yendole, Vancouver based poet, Thinking Ship

“Blue Dirt Girl+Klame in collaboration create an incredible trio. Kathryn’s powerful voice, Albert’s bass tones and Josh’s beats weave together to create a unique immalgamation that is magical and haunting. Their sounds create unique textures in space.”

BMM attendee Donna Redlick, Vancouver based somatic-based dance artist and choreographer, a Registered Master Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist and a Certified Movement Analyst.

An added layer to Sight Curve’s start was that the day after we were commissioned to do a score for Echoes of Narcissus Josh found out he had a rare form of cancer.

We will share more details of creating our music with Josh on zoom during chemo treatments or from his resting spots in Courtenay, BC, wondering if he could play live and the influence Josh’s cancer diagnosis had on our work together. Josh is now in complete remission.
