Our final Blue Dirt Girl 10th Anniversary House Concert is Saturday, September 20th.  The concert is also a Fundraiser for Rain City Housing  a BC based organization that provides shelter, supports dignity and effects change.

Tickets are $25 (+ fees) with a percentage of ticket sales donated to RCH.

Tickets available now via Side Door.

Side Door is a secure Canadian ticketing and musician/concert hosts connection platform.

The concert address is given when tickets are purchased.  BYOB.

One fact that makes this final 10th Anniversary show truly special is that our East Vancouver hosts, Eric and Catharine, also presented Blue Dirt Girl’s first official concert in 2015. That concert was also a fundraiser for Rain City Housing.

Doors: 7 pm  Music: 7:30 pm

Vancouver poet Thinking Ship/Sophie Yendole opens the show, 2 sets of new music:  Blue Dirt Girl, and guest Dan Ponich on second guitar and keys and our new trio Sight Curve.

We are excited to announce that our host Eric’s brother, Paul, will play Bach’s Chaconne in D minor, on violin, with Albert Klassen on stand up bass.

Here is a short video with audio of BDG, Paul and SC Kathryn posted on Instagram and  FB.

Sight Curve solo show.

On Sunday September 21st, 2pm to 2:50 pm, our trio Sight Curve will be playing at MacLean Park Music Festival

Located at 710 Keefer Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada.

This Festival is a random series of musical performances in the northwest corner of MacLean Park in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood. Schedule here.  Cash donations for artists are encouraged.

You can hear/see Sight Curve’s live sound on our new Youtube Channel.  Kathryn has added recent live videos from SC’s sets at Blue Dirt Girl’s Vancouver Island 10th Anniversary shows.

Words.

I would like end by sharing an unsolicited and very meaningful 10th Anniversary note and comment after one of our train shows from Via passengers Peter and Anjuli.  The couple, from India, were passengers on the train from Toronto to Vancouver. Peter fulfilled his dream and danced with his wife as the train sped along the tracks. Peter and Anjuli had thoughtful questions around Blue Dirt Girl’s lyric, compositions, life as artists and choice of classic Canadian songs.
They also had an infectious positivity for life, family, travel, and music.

“A 10th Anniversary is a special landmark Blue Dirt Girl music, Kathryn Sutherland Albert Klassen, may the special moment be spent in nostalgia recounting the days and years of highlights, a few lows and some struggles maybe, the wonderful people you would have met along the way and the joy of putting music to words and stories. 🎶🎤 All the best for the future too….may your musical growth continue bringing you happiness and contentment. Whether you are playing for 2 or 2,000 people you have the same intensity. Thank you for that.” Peter C.

Watch short video post of our music and their dancing plus some other VIA highlights.

This is just one of the amazing stories, connections and conversations Kathryn and Albert had on their Via Rail Vancouver to Toronto and back Tour 2025.
