We are very excited to announce the release of our brand new ‘Miss Him’ lyric video. Watch here.
‘Miss Him’ is the 5th track on our latest album ‘No Street Signs No Straight Lines.’
You can read Albert Klassen lovely spruch/story about ‘Miss Him’ on my last post here.
‘MISS HIM’ vocals, though a struggle to record, give a sense of hope, the bass part pulls to keep the tempo back, not wanting to let go, the layered guitar parts tug the beat to move forward. Dan’s pulsing drum track is perfectly placed and Simon Kendall’s grand piano playing is gorgeous.
Kathryn decided to use 2 talismans, for loved ones who have died, to create the ‘Miss Him’ video. The ring in the video belonged to Kathryn’s dad Jack Sutherland. It was his Civil Engineering graduate ring.
The Curta mechanical calculator belonged to Bruce White, Albert’s father in law, who was a physicist.
The video’s concept came after watching Berlin based Lisa Akuha moving and powerful video ‘IF’.
Lisa’s technique of slowing down and blurring her violently shaking head was the moment Kathryn’s idea fired up in her mind.
Lisa is a Berlin based psychedelic folk singer|songwriter and we are both part of Octopus Music London consortium of indie artists. Read about how you can support both Lisa and BDG’S music via Octopus Music London playlists here.
As fate would have it Kathryn is almost done posts celebrating ‘Miss Him’. Her focus will move onto the 6th track, ‘Where would i be now’ . (‘No street signs. No straight lines’ album)
Our music is featured in a Saskatchewan indie Horror film! Yup, you read correctly. Thanks to our good friend Steph, lead singer/songwriter for the Regina indie band Synthetik Blonde, our new single ‘Where would I be now’ has been placed in Swift Current, Sask. based Dead Prairie Productions latest film. Gorephers: Final Gnaw is a horror film and 100% of the proceeds go to Swift Current SPCA. We are very happy to share our music and support both prairie indie filmmaking and our furry friends at SPCA!
‘because i said i would’
Man!! This is awesome news, congrats. You totally deserve it. I totally want to track down and watch this movie. Beautiful song as always.
Hey Quizboy. You are sending positivity for our music everywhere this week. Very much appreciate this and your ‘MISS HIM’ Youtube insights. I will find out if the Gorephers-The Final Gnaw will be viewable anywhere after the release on May 11th and post it here in my blog. I love ‘Where Would I Be Now’ single they chose for movie. Along with ‘Song of the Crawdad’, on the album, it’s a departure from usual song structure and it works! **Anyone reading this check out: Quizboy’s music, as Never Say Never (QUIZBOY), (https://www.instagram.com/never_say_never_quizboy/?hl=en OR https://linktr.ee/quizboy)AND their Audio Mirage Studio radio shows, playlists and daily Instagram posts https://www.instagram.com/audiomiragestudios/?hl=en supporting indie artists from all genres.
