Dan requested a 3 day “marathon” to get our tracks completed for my EP. We had to postpone original May recording because of COVID 19 outbreak.
Day 3 agenda was recording my vocals and guitar tracks.
As I drove over the 2nd narrows bridge I had a clear thought run through my mind. I was trying to make DREAMS, the final song on the EP, tougher, hip, edgy to fit with the other 3 tracks.
DREAMS is joyful melancholy song about my boys growing up, time, motherhood, family, mental health and relationships.
Emmy Lou Harris’s Wrecking Ball came up on a playlist with her sweet voice and the darker sonic layers Daniel Lanois added to the album.
I arrived and announced I was singing DREAMS they way it was written. Then played some tracks off Wrecking Ball to give Dan a sense of the sound I wanted.
He stood there, listened to Emmy Lou and said “Ok. Let’s start recording your vocals.”
Another magic moment.
